Frequently asked questions
About PrecioTope
What is PrecioTope?
PrecioTope shows real results of Copart vehicle auctions: what each car actually sold for, together with upcoming lots, the sales history of each VIN and local market prices. It helps you research how much a vehicle is worth before you bid or buy.
Is PrecioTope affiliated with Copart?
No. PrecioTope is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Copart or any other auction house, seller or insurer. The Copart name is used only to identify where the results come from.
Can I bid on or buy cars through PrecioTope?
No. PrecioTope is a research tool. To bid you need an account with the auction house (or a broker who bids for you). Use PrecioTope to compare prices and decide your maximum bid first.
Where does the data come from, and how often is it updated?
Results are compiled from publicly available and third-party sources. New sale results are added after each sale day and upcoming lots are refreshed continuously. Auction data can contain errors or change, so always confirm the details on the auction website before you bid.
Prices and lots
What does "Final bid" mean?
It is the winning bid reported for the sale. It does not include buyer fees, auction fees, taxes, title, storage or transport, so the total cost of buying a vehicle is higher than the final bid.
Why do I see "See Price" instead of the price?
Final prices are shown to signed-in users. Create a free account (or sign in) and the prices appear in the listings and on every lot.
What is the difference between Sold Lots and Future Lots?
Sold Lots are vehicles that have already been auctioned, with their final result. Future Lots are vehicles scheduled for upcoming auctions, with their sale date, current bid and photos, so you can compare them with similar cars that already sold.
What do Clean Title, Salvage Title, Rebuilt Title and Non-repairable mean?
They describe the title the vehicle is sold with. Clean Title: no brand on the title. Salvage Title: declared a total loss; in most states it can be repaired and inspected to be titled for the road again. Rebuilt Title: a former salvage vehicle that was repaired and passed inspection. Non-repairable: it can only be used for parts or scrap and cannot be titled for the road again. Exact rules vary by state.
How are "Similar cars recently sold" chosen?
Only sales with the same title type are considered. They are then ranked by how close they are to the lot: same year, trim and primary damage, and similar mileage. Each card shows its match percentage and what it has in common with the lot.
What is the sales history by VIN?
The same vehicle can go to auction more than once — because it did not sell, the reserve was not met, or it was bought, repaired and sold again. The sales history lists every run of that VIN with its date, price and outcome.
Market prices
What are Market prices?
For a lot, Market prices show a retail price estimate from MarketCheck (based on the VIN and mileage) and comparable vehicles for sale at dealers near you, with their price, mileage, days on market and dealer. It helps you estimate what the car could be worth once it is on the road.
Why do you ask for my ZIP code?
Retail prices and the comparable vehicles depend on the area. Your ZIP code is saved to your account and you can change it any time with the pencil next to it. Your last market report for each lot is saved and shows up when you come back; use Refresh to get new data. A daily limit of new lookups applies.
Account, plans and credits
Do I need an account?
You can browse lots without an account. A free account is needed to see final prices, use Market prices and buy credits or plans.
What plans are available?
Every account starts on the free Basic plan. Smart costs US$14.50/month and Car Flippers US$35/month, plus taxes where applicable. Upgrades take effect immediately (you pay only the prorated difference), downgrades take effect at the next billing cycle, and you can cancel any time from Account → Plan.
What are credits and how do they work?
Credits are a prepaid balance: 1 credit = US$1, with a minimum purchase of 10 credits. They are used to pay for vehicle (VIN) reports. Each purchase includes a processing fee that is shown before you pay, and sales tax may apply.
Can I get a refund?
Unused credits can be refunded in full at US$1 per credit from Account → Credits; the processing fee and taxes are not refunded, and credits used for a report that was delivered are not refundable. A subscription payment is refundable only if you request it within 3 days after the payment (initial or renewal), and only for the last billing cycle — contact us. Taxes are never refunded. See the Terms of Service for details.
Which payment methods do you accept, and why does checkout say "Sold through Link"?
Cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover and others), Apple Pay, Google Pay, Cash App Pay and Link, depending on your device and location. Payments are processed by Stripe; Link (part of Stripe) acts as the seller of record and calculates and pays sales tax, which is why checkout asks for your billing address. We never see your full card number.
How do vehicle reports work?
Vehicle history reports come from independent third-party providers and are paid with credits. Once delivered, they are kept in My Reports. A report may take some time to arrive, its content depends on the provider, and once delivered it is not refundable except in the cases described in the Terms.
How do I change the language?
Use the EN / ES switch in the header. Your choice is remembered on that browser.
